Commissions rewards your sales team automatically — define targets and rules, and XO calculates earnings from actual sales, ready to approve and pay through payroll.
Sales targets
- Go to XO Sales → Commissions → Targets.
- Set targets per rep, team, product, or period.
- Track actual vs target as sales post.
Commission rules
- Open Commissions → Rules → New.
- Choose the basis — % of sales, tiered rates, or per-unit.
- Scope the rule to products, categories, or clients and to a rep/team.
- Set thresholds (e.g. commission only above target).
Sales periods
- Define sales periods (monthly/quarterly).
- At period end, XO computes each rep’s commission from posted sales and the rules.
- Review the period; approve or reject (with a note) before payout.
- Approved commissions flow to Payroll as a pay line.

Best practices
- Keep rules simple and tiered so reps can self-calculate and trust the number.
- Close sales periods on a fixed cadence aligned to payroll cut-off.
- Reconcile returns/credit notes so commission isn’t paid on reversed sales.
Troubleshooting
- Commission seems high. Check whether returns/credit notes are deducted in the rule.
- Rep missing from a period. Confirm sales are attributed to the rep and the rule covers them.
