The XO manifesto
XO is a social network with privacy by design — one app in place of the five you juggle today, built on a simple bet: people post more, and more honestly, when nobody is keeping score. This page is the contract behind that bet.
What XO will not do
Sell, rent or broker user data. Nobody pays us to learn about you, because nothing here is for sale — including your attention.
Show follower or following counts or lists. Ever. Not hidden behind a setting — absent from the product.
Reveal a relationship to anyone outside it. Who you follow, who follows you, who you talk to — that is yours.
Use dark patterns in consent, deletion or subscription flows. Leaving must cost nothing and take minutes.
Let automated systems delete content or punish an account. A person decides, and enforcement is recorded.
What XO promises instead
Every post carries its own audience — public, followers, friends, or just you — chosen before you write it.
Deletion is real: your data is crypto-shredded, unreadable even in backups, not merely hidden from view.
Your data is exportable from the first release — not added later when someone complains.
Funded by the people who use it, through optional support tiers. No advertising, no attention market.
Age gating is real: 13+, and no design that treats a minor's data as an asset.
