XO

The XO manifesto

XO is a social network with privacy by design — one app in place of the five you juggle today, built on a simple bet: people post more, and more honestly, when nobody is keeping score. This page is the contract behind that bet.

What XO will not do

  • Sell, rent or broker user data. Nobody pays us to learn about you, because nothing here is for sale — including your attention.

  • Show follower or following counts or lists. Ever. Not hidden behind a setting — absent from the product.

  • Reveal a relationship to anyone outside it. Who you follow, who follows you, who you talk to — that is yours.

  • Use dark patterns in consent, deletion or subscription flows. Leaving must cost nothing and take minutes.

  • Let automated systems delete content or punish an account. A person decides, and enforcement is recorded.

What XO promises instead

  • Every post carries its own audience — public, followers, friends, or just you — chosen before you write it.

  • Deletion is real: your data is crypto-shredded, unreadable even in backups, not merely hidden from view.

  • Your data is exportable from the first release — not added later when someone complains.

  • Funded by the people who use it, through optional support tiers. No advertising, no attention market.

  • Age gating is real: 13+, and no design that treats a minor's data as an asset.
